About D2C brand

D2C brand is an early-stage direct-to-consumer skincare brand that offers personalized product regimens. Customers start with a diagnostic skin quiz, then receive a product recommendation from a portfolio of 18 core retail items and matching trial sizes.

Trial products bring in new customers. The business model moves those trial users toward full-size subscriptions and repeat purchases. D2C Brand operates through its own e-commerce channel.

"The financial model looks good, I have no further comments. Thanks to you and the Jazaa team for your good work on this project. I will close it out on 5 stars."

CEO Skin Care D2C Company

The Challenges

CEO had already built a detailed financial model to support his business planning. But over time, the model became too complex for everyday use.

The original spreadsheet made it hard to see what was actually happening inside the sales funnel. Subscription dynamics, customer retention, and cohort-level economics were buried under layers of tabs and formulas. Interpreting advanced concepts like LTV waterfalls required significant effort.

On top of that, time-zone differences between the USA and India slowed feedback cycles. Every round of revisions took longer than it should have.

CEO needed a model that his team and investors could actually use. One that clearly showed how trial customers convert, how subscriptions grow, and where the path to profitability sits.

What Jazaa Did

Jazaa stepped in with a focused approach. The team took the existing model apart and rebuilt it around a single, clearly sequenced funnel.

Instead of spreading assumptions and calculations across multiple disconnected tabs, Jazaa consolidated everything into one logical flow. From media spend at the top of the funnel through to retention at the bottom, every step connects to the next.

The team rebuilt the subscription logic from the ground up. The new model reflects renewal frequency, churn timing, and how different customer cohorts behave over time. Jazaa also introduced lead accumulation and lead churn mechanics that the original model was missing entirely.

To make the model usable for non-technical stakeholders, Jazaa converted static assumptions into monthly, user-editable inputs. Anyone on the team can now adjust a single number and see how it flows through the entire forecast.

Throughout the 6-week engagement, Jazaa ran frequent walkthroughs with CEO. Each iteration tightened the model based on real feedback rather than guesswork.

Results

The engagement turned an unwieldy spreadsheet into something the founder, the team, and potential investors can all work with.

Jazaa simplified the full 36-month model into a transparent forecasting tool. Every assumption is visible. Every calculation traces back to an editable input.

Subscription revenue and lifetime value are now clearly mapped through retention waterfalls and cohort analysis. Before the engagement, these numbers were buried. Now they sit front and center.

The new model supports flexible scenario testing. CEO can adjust monthly assumptions and immediately see how different growth paths affect profitability. This makes the model useful for both internal decision-making and investor conversations.

CEO closed out the engagement with a 5-star rating and no further revisions requested.

Key Outcomes:

Tools and Methods Used
